No one understands this concept of Ayurveda better than Athreya Resorts where the world of traditional authencity is
uncompromised.

More than 700 years ago, a traditional Ayurvedic yogi traveled all the way from the Himalayas to Kerala, God's own country. His name was Athreya and his practice and treatment of the ancient science of Ayurveda near Kottayam, has now been passed down authentically to the present generation whose ideals are the same as that of its founder,
Athreya. |

|
| The
treatment Kalari still remains at a place called
Muttambalam near the Kottayam town. It is still
treasured by the present generation with the same beauty
and structure |

| We boast of an aristocratic lineage of expertise in our founding fathers.
'Vaidya Kalanidhi V.R. Balakrishnan', father of our in-house doctor, Dr. B.
Gireesh, got his qualification during the most difficult times for the Ayurveda community. He went on strike so that the Government would give more importance to Ayurveda as a medicine.
|
 |
|
| Due to his vast experience, spanning almost 70 years, he was able to adopt ayurveda principles according to each generation. 150 years ago, prescriptions were given, to treat patients. Now the trend has changed to herbal drinks.

At that time, there were 2 ayurveda groups called the Malabar based ayurveda Mandalam and the Travancore based ayurveda
mahamandalam. Dr. V.R Balakrishna was able to unite both as one and called it the Kerala Ayurveda Mandalam and became its General Secretary. He traveled all over the State of Kerala, uniting all the Ayurveda trained personnel. For his noble purposes, the Government nominated him to be the member of both the Kerala Medical Council and the Central Council. He was also the examiner for the Travancore and Calicut Diploma courses, as well as faculty member of both Kerala and Calicut Universities. Respected by the Ayurveda Council, he stood for ayurveda principles and went forward with noble purposes and stands tall and revered by all. When he died, the ayurveda community lost one of its most active members.
