1.Dr. Gireesh Athreya, D.A.M.is the General Secretary of the oldest Ayurvedic organisation- KERALA AYURVEDA MANDALAM.this post is one of the honorary advisors to the Minister of Health - Govt Of Kerala in certain key issues. |
*Dr.B Gireesh Athreya, D.A.M.-is the chairman and managing director of Athreya Ayurveda Group of institutions
* hails from a family of Ayurveda tradition ageing back to six centuries. It is believed that his family had the blessing of sage Athreya and inherited the knowledge of life from the great master of Ayurveda.
*Dr Gireesh is one of the pioneers in Kerala to combine the traditional treatment science and the modern medicine for Patient care. .

* Dr. Gireesh, passed his DAM degree from the Kerala Ayurveda Samajam College was fortunate to be the disciple of Vaidya Madam Velia Narayan Namputhri, an illustrious celebrity in the field of Ayurveda medicine
.*Later under the famous Kumarakom Parameswaran Pillay, from the Dhanwantari Madom in Thiruvanthapuram, Dr. Gireesh realised and learned the importance of utilising modern medicine"s diagnostic techniques for Ayurveda practice.
*Both his grandfather and father were registered medical practitioners, recognized by the Travancore Medical Council

Dr. Gireesh's paternal grandfather, Aiyappan Pillay Vaidyan from the Madapattu family, learnt Ayurveda and its uncompromising principles from Athreyan. His father Kocunarayanpillay Vaidyan was also an Ayurveda specialist and in those days he used to travel by boat to travel to learn Ayurveda. The medicine became so popular that members of the royalty used to come for treatment. Tablets were ground by hand and given to many types of patients. |

Dr. Gireesh's maternal grandfather Vakasseril Madhavan Pillay Vaidyan, studied Ayurveda and Sanskrit in a reputed Ayurveda school. During his son's time, The Ayurveda college started in
Thiruvanthapuram. Dr. Gireesh's father studied in the famous Ayurveda Paatta
Shalla, in Ettumanoor, recognized by the Government. He later taught Ayurveda in a Ayurveda College in
Thiruvanthapuram. He was given a class medical practice certificate by the Government for my father. |

Dr. Gireesh's grandfather Aiyappan Pillay Vaidyan used to treat typhoid before the discovery of Chloro phenicol in the 50's, during which treatment was very difficult. At that time, cases rejected by allopathy doctor,
(Dr.Amburan), was taken up by Aiyappan Pillay Kochunarayanpillay who was a specialist for typhoid. He used the yogi, Athreyan's text book as his guide. He started the Sri Narayan Villasam Vaidya Shaala in Pulimood Junction. |
